Nori

Nori is a band from Austin, TX. The music is a seamless concoction of various ingredients: one part jazz, one part world, and one part folk.
The notion of Nori arose from a drummer’s daydream. Andy Beaudoin, a veteran of the Austin music scene, has played drums in many different groups including the critically acclaimed indie-rock band Brazos, Persian setarist Fared Shafinury and Tehranosaurus, and Justin Sherburn’s cinematic ensemble Montopolis. On a hot and lazy afternoon in the summer of 2011,… Show more he wondered whether the ingredients unique to distinct musical genres could be harmoniously blended into one sound – a sound echoing its diverse inheritance while also weaving a cohesive sonic identity all its own. Inspired by these playful thoughts, he carefully assembled the main ingredients of the recipe: Akina Adderley (Akina Adderley and The Vintage Playboys) on vocals, Erik Telford (ETC, Hellfire Horns, Asilomar) on trumpet, Bob Hoffnar (Lunch Money, Hem) on the pedal steel guitar, and Aaron Allen (Elias Haslanger, Dr. James Polk) on the acoustic bass.
