Eden Medina, Indiana University, details the history of a computer system known as Project Cybersyn, a computer network built during the 1970s as part of Chile's peaceful road to socialism during the government of Salvador Allende. Cybersyn was designed to introduce, reflect, and uphold Chilean ideas of democratic socialism. The lecture will explore this relationship of technology and politics and discuss how technologies can help us understand moments of political, economic and social upheaval.
