If there is a new movie out, an action movie in particular, there really is no where better in Austin for the overall feel, sound, etc.
They don't have great concessions, but I have NEVER thought the seating was narrow or different from other theaters. The museum is beautiful and the sound in the theater is incredible. Don't miss out on this theater and if you park at night it is usually free, there are plenty of spots around the theater to if you bring quarters... really never an issue for me.

Don't let "ghostshadow" discourage you. It's easy to carp about something because you're so cosmopolitan that you've seen bigger and better. The IMAX is great fun - the screen is the biggest in Austin and the seats are just fine unless you're grossly overweight. Seeing a move on the huge IMAX screen is a memorable experience, and the 3D movies are even better. Definitely put it on your list of things to do. Do be warned, though, that their parking is expensive. If you don't want t pay $8 to park, give yourself time to park on the street and walk to the theater.

The somewhat large screen is nice, but a bit small for IMAX.
The seating is terrible. These are the narrowest seats I've ever found in a theatre, which is especially bad in a theatre that sells out. They also have a shabby, unmaintained feel.
Austin deserves a real IMAX theatre, with a large, wraparound screen, comfortable seating and adequate capacity.
